About this Book

The divergent personalities profiled in this book have collectively engineered entirely new ways of seeing, expanding their influence well beyond Japan and into the arts of Asia, Western Europe, and North America. Featuring the work of renowned talents as well as rising stars, this book is organized around the physical city and the role of the megalopolis as both the site and inspiration for an unprecedented explosion in the visual arts.

Praise

“It’s a 500-page explosion of creativity that serves as a reminder of how Japan is often on the cutting edge of art and design innovations.” ~Planet Magazine

"Both the city's appearance and its visual output are impossible to summarize, except that they always grab the eye. Tokyolife: Art and Design attempts to get a handle on the amorphous style of the megalopolis by looking at the actual players behind it." ~Coolhunting.com

"Tokyolife anoits the true design talents of the city and explores their global influence." ~Departures
