Children's Books

This Is Washington DC

This beautifully reproduced classic children’s travel book on the US capital is now available in a smaller, more affordable package, with vintage illustrations, updated facts, and timeless gift appeal.

First published in 1969, super-tourist Sasek paints the nation’s capital in unforgettable shades of red, white, and blue. With bright illustrations and snappy, witty commentary, Sasek leads readers through Washington, DC’s most iconic sights, including the Washington Monument with its sweeping views of federal buildings and museums, the White House, the city’s legendary cherry blossoms, and the Smithsonian’s National Zoological Park, once home to the world’s most famous bear, Smokey. The result is a lively, charming portrait of a city defined by green parks, wide avenues, and classic white porticoes. This book offers a joyful celebration of the capital city and its national institutions.
