About The Author

Rickey Gates ran TransAmericana, a 3,700-mile solo run across the United States, which became the subject of his acclaimed documentary and book Cross Country. Andy Cochrane is a journalist whose work has been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, Forbes, and Outside. Ian MacLellan is an accomplished outdoor photographer and filmmaker whose work has appeared in The New York Times and Runner’s World. Kílian Jornet has won the triple crown of ultrarunning—Western States, Hardrock, and UTMB. Runners for Public Lands is a nonprofit organization that mobilizes the running community to protect public lands, advocate for environmental justice, and promote sustainable access to nature.
