About The Author

Alejandro Escudero Pumarejo studied architecture before shifting to business administration and a high-level career in finance until 2000, when he made a deliberate return to architecture. The design showroom he and his wife Cristina opened in Mexico City approached architecture and interior design as a single discipline, where the quality of a material is as important as the proportion of a room, and where a space is not finished until it feels as if it has always existed. Escudero’s architectural language is defined by natural materials and an unwavering attention to human scale. His references come not from design trends but from years of personally sourcing antiques and from living in and understanding what makes a space genuinely habitable. His work has been published in specialized architecture and design media in Mexico, Spain, and the United States.
