About The Author

Patrick Jouin is a French designer whose practice spans industrial design, furniture, and architecture. In 1998 he founded Patrick Jouin iD, a studio dedicated to industrial design in its broadest sense. His work was the subject of a monographic exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in 2009, and he received the Compasso d’Oro in 2011. Since 2006, together with his co-founder, architect Sanjit Manku, Jouin has extended his design vision into immersive spatial environments. Dedicated to dissolving the boundaries between architecture, interiors, and design, his practice has focused on crafting meaningful experiences in both public and private realms. This approach, at the meeting point of design and architecture, is defined by continuity: from the detail to the building, from the object to the city. 

Sanjit Manku is a Canadian architect born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1971 and raised in Ontario. He studied architecture at Carleton University, then founded his own studio before joining Yabu Pushelberg for five years. A sabbatical year in Europe brought him to Paris, where he met designer Patrick Jouin in 2001. Together with Jouin, Manku co-founded Jouin Manku in Paris in 2006. His work is distinguished by a deep sensitivity to spatial composition, the emotional resonance of built environments, and their impact on people. From their base in Paris, the studio’s international team of approximately fifty staff have created work that spans luxury hospitality, cultural institutions, retail flagships, and infrastructure.
